Chapter 15 I feel like someone wants me
Chapter 15 I feel like someone wants me
After spending some more time with Su Wan, Lin Yu decided to go back.
After all, it was Anna's first night at home, and Lin Yu was worried that she wasn't used to it yet.
It took Lin Yu about ten minutes to get home. The lights were off inside, with only a little moonlight coming in through the window.
The door to the second bedroom was ajar, and faint breathing could be heard from inside.
Lin Yu took off his coat, hung it up, and walked to the door of the second bedroom, gently pushing it open.
Anna was lying on her side on the bed, facing the door, with her eyes open.
Perhaps the sound of the door opening startled her. Lin Yu sat down on the edge of the bed and patted her head, saying:
"Why aren't you asleep yet?"
Anna shifted further in, lifted the covers, patted the bed frame, and said:
"I can't sleep, and I'm not used to this new place. Master... could you stay with me for a while?"
Anna's voice was soft, with a hint of probing and a touch of stubbornness.
She was clearly still resentful that Lin Yu hadn't accepted her.
Lin Yu isn't saying he doesn't want it; he's not kidding, he really will be grass-fed.
Let's at least raise them to be healthy first.
Lin Yu sighed and looked down at Anna.
Moonlight streamed through the gaps in the curtains, illuminating Anna's face. Her eyes were clear and untainted.
"Sweetie, I'll lull you to sleep." Lin Yu took off her shoes and crawled into bed. The bed wasn't big, but it was just right for the two of them to lie down.
Anna immediately hugged Lin Yu and buried her face in his chest.
"My master's embrace... is so warm."
Lin Yu reached out and pinched Anna's face. It was soft, yet a little rough, after all, it had been exposed to the wind and sun.
"Go to sleep." Lin Yu gently stroked Anna's head.
Anna rubbed against Lin Yu's palm, puzzled, and asked, "Master really likes to pat heads, is there any special meaning behind it?"
Lin Yu paused for a moment: "It doesn't mean anything, because Anna is very cute."
"Oh." Anna blushed slightly, and after a moment of silence, she said again:
"I don't mind being patted on the head." She buried her face even deeper, gently nuzzling against Lin Yu's chest.
"No one ever touched my head in the black market before. I haven't felt this warmth since my owner died~"
Lin Yu didn't speak, and continued to gently comb Anna's hair with his fingers.
Anna's breathing gradually calmed down, and after a long while she spoke softly:
"Owner."
"Um?"
Will you take care of me forever?
"meeting."
"Then... what should I call you from now on? Should I always call you Master?"
"Whatever."
"But you're so young..." Anna looked up at Lin Yu in the darkness. "Wouldn't it be strange to call me master?"
"Really? What does Anna want to call me?"
"Hmm..." An hesitated for a moment:
"elder brother?"
Hearing this, Lin Yu raised an eyebrow but did not refuse.
She smiled slightly and said, "Okay."
"But I want to call you Master." Anna buried her face back. "Calling me Master... it feels like someone wants me."
Lin Yu's hand stopped on Anna's face, then he hugged her even tighter:
"You can call me whatever you want, anyway... Anna will be by my side from now on."
Okay, go to sleep. There's still a long life ahead of you.
"Mmm... thank you, Master~" Anna closed her eyes, but hugged Lin Yu even tighter, as if afraid he would run away.
Lin Yu leaned against the headboard, looking out the window. The moonlight was faint, and the sky was dark gray. The girl in his arms gradually evened out her breathing and soon fell asleep.
However, Anna still held onto Lin Yu's clothes, only then did she feel safe.
Lin Yu, however, had no desire to sleep. He gently embraced Anna, his hand occasionally caressing her legs.
Anna is petite, about 1.4 meters tall, and it's easy to hug her whole body; it feels great to hold her.
Lin Yu smiled slightly, and only when the sky began to lighten did he remove Anna's hand and tuck it back into the blanket. Then he carefully got out of bed.
As I reached the door, I glanced back and saw Anna curled up in bed, fast asleep.
Lin Yu closed the door, sat on the sofa in the living room, and lit a cigarette.
I didn't smoke; I just watched the cigarette butt flicker in the morning light.
We're going to steal the Crimson Dragon Crystal tonight, and there's still a lot to prepare, but I still have to go to the police station to clock in.
Lin Yu stubbed out his cigarette and headed to the bathroom.
After a quick wash and changing into my police uniform, I was ready to go out.
However, before leaving, Lin Yu left a note on the dining table:
"I'm going to work. There's food in the fridge. I'll be back soon."
He signed his name with a crooked smiley face, then glanced at the time. It was exactly eight o'clock, which was usually around this time when he went to the police station.
I arrived at the police station at exactly 8:30.
Li Feng was already at his workstation, holding a cup of hot coffee and looking down at today's duty roster.
Lin Yu stared at him for a few moments, but Li Feng's expression didn't change, indicating that he hadn't noticed that Li Feng had read the report.
"Good morning, Lin Yu." Li Feng looked up and forced a smile.
Lin Yu greeted him as usual, as if nothing had happened.
But in reality, no one was being sincere; they were all acting.
"Li Feng, Li Feng, let me see how many faces you have!"
Li Feng: Patience and forbearance!
Lin Yu returned to his workstation and sat down, his gaze falling on Old Chen, who was walking down the corridor carrying a thermos.
Then he said, "Lin Yu, come to my office."
Lin Yu nodded and followed behind Old Chen.
Third floor, Captain's office—
Old Chen walked behind his desk and sat down, the thermos cup making a dull thud as it was placed on the table.
"sit."
Lin Yu sat down in the chair opposite him.
Old Chen opened the drawer, took out the case file of the textile factory warehouse, flipped to the page with the photos of the scene, and pushed it over.
"Do you have any new ideas about this case?"
Lin Yu paused for a few seconds and then said, "A little."
I think... there's something wrong with the shape of this pile of ashes.
"Oh?" Old Chen leaned forward, thinking that Lin Yu had finally figured it out.
"Something's not right?"
"Look, normally the ashes from a fire should be scattered, but this pile is very strange, like someone deliberately set it up."
Old Chen squinted, not seeing anything, but still continued to guide Lin Yu:
"Is there anything else?"
"And that anchor fragment," Lin Yu continued, making up a story, "I suspect it's a token from some kind of ritual."
"ceremony?"
"Yes, it might be some kind of...mark, like summoning something...but there should be some price to pay..."
That's all my guesses for now.
Old Chen nodded, feeling that everything seemed to make sense.
Before losing his memory, Lin Yu wanted to summon some kind of strange entity? The price was his memories. But there's still not a single clue about the cargo.
Old Chen patted Lin Yu on the shoulder and said, "It's very valuable for reference. Here's what we'll do: focus on studying this case for the next few days and write a detailed analysis report for me."
"Oh, I was just thinking about it randomly. I'll go think about it some more." Lin Yu scratched his head, like a shy big boy.
He then stood up, saluted, and left the office.
The moment the door closed, he heard Old Chen pick up the phone and dial a number.
It was probably a call to Shen Bing.
However, Lin Yu's phone also vibrated at that moment; it was a message from Su Wan:
"There are people on the roof of the building across the street, watching all the time. They should be Chen Tianxiong's men."
Lin Yu typed a reply: "Don't move, wait for me to come back."
