Chapter 89 Handling the Incident
Chapter 89 Handling the Incident
Lin Yu answered the call, and a cold, beautiful face appeared on the screen, but it also showed impatience.
The woman looked to be about thirty years old and wore frameless glasses.
Her makeup was exquisite, her long, black hair was neatly tied back, her skin was fair, and her lips were painted a deep mauve color, pressed into a straight line.
She wore a well-tailored dark gray uniform with epaulets indicating her position as a department head.
The red eyes held an undisguised scrutiny and a condescending indifference.
"Section Chief Lin Yu?" Her voice, like her personality, was cold and devoid of warmth.
"It's me, may I ask who you are?"
"Director of the Resource Allocation Department, Su Yingxue." Su Yingxue spoke quickly, seemingly not wanting to waste any time:
"We have just received an emergency notification from the Inner City Wall Defense Department that abnormal energy fluctuations and illegal gatherings have been detected near the outer wall of the southeast section of District 7."
There are indications that one of the trial participants who passed the trial this time may have intended to damage the protective wall's patterns.
Su Yingxue stared at Lin Yu, as if observing his reaction:
"According to the procedures, your department is responsible for the initial response and handling of primary field incidents within the Seventh District."
I'm now sending you the coordinates and known intelligence. This is your first task before you take up your post, Section Chief Lin.
Su Yingxue's tone was ambiguous, conveying neither expectation nor anything else; it was more like a cold, businesslike test.
"Let me see how capable the fastest SSS-rank player in history is at handling real-world troubles."
"Don't mess this up! The safety of the city walls is paramount!"
As soon as he finished speaking, the communication was interrupted, and an emergency mission file marked in red was simultaneously transmitted to Lin Yu's terminal.
Lin Yu frowned slightly as he watched the cold, beautiful face disappear from the light screen.
Is it a show of force? Or simply prioritizing efficiency? In any case, Su Yingxue is definitely not a friendly person.
Lin Yu opened the mission file. The coordinates were clear, and the intelligence indicated that there were at least four groups of people, totaling more than twenty.
They were all extraordinary individuals participating in the trials, seemingly influenced by some ideology that believed embracing the gray fog was the right path to evolution.
This reminded Lin Yu of Li Rui, and there must be some connection between them.
Lin Yu narrowed his eyes slightly, and without calling any of his subordinates whom he had not yet met, he left the office alone.
Since this Director Su wants to see his abilities, then let her see them clearly.
Of course, Lin Yu wouldn't use his roulette gambling ability lightly.
If she saw it this time, then she should be able to show it to Lin Yu next time without any problems, right?
......
In the southeast of District Seven, near a relatively secluded observation platform inside the city wall, the atmosphere was tense.
The four groups are scattered in advantageous positions, cooperating with each other while also being wary of one another, but they all share the same goal.
The protective patterns on the tall wall ahead were faintly visible.
They still carried the lingering scent of the trial, their eyes gleaming with excitement and a destructive urge.
"Hurry up! It'll be troublesome if the Bureau reacts!" a bald, burly man roared, holding a serrated knife burning with eerie green flames. He was clearly the leader of one of the groups.
They are preparing to take action.
"Oh? Let me see what gave you the courage to bang your heads against the wall here."
A calm voice suddenly rang out, not loud, but clearly reaching everyone's ears.
Everyone was startled and turned their heads in unison.
Not far away, on a metal maintenance platform that extends outwards, there was a person who had appeared at some point.
Wearing a dark blue uniform, he stood tall and straight, casually gilded by the afternoon sun, but it did nothing to soften the coldness in his eyes.
"A lackey of the Administration Bureau? Just one?" The bald, burly man narrowed his eyes, scrutinizing Lin Yu's shoulder insignia.
"Section Chief? Pshaw, a pretty boy who hasn't even grown his hair yet, dares to come here alone to die?"
"Why waste words with him! Take him down! I'll do it!" A man as thin and tall as a bamboo pole, whose arms could extend strangely, grinned maliciously next to the bald giant.
Immediately afterwards, his arm shot out with a "whoosh," his five fingers like hooks, aimed straight at Lin Yu's heart!
It moved at an extremely high speed, creating a sharp whistling sound as it cut through the air.
This strike was ruthless and swift, enough to easily pierce through the steel plate.
However, Lin Yu merely raised an eyebrow slightly, raised his left hand, and casually snapped his fingers at the strange, long arm that had grabbed him.
"puff."
A soft sound.
The next moment, the entire extended arm of the tall, thin man, starting from his fingertips, was instantly engulfed by black and red flames that suddenly ignited out of nowhere!
The flames were deep and restrained, yet they carried a terrifyingly high temperature that could burn everything!
"Aaaaaah—!!" A shrill, inhuman scream erupted.
The flames spread incredibly fast, reaching his shoulder in the blink of an eye.
The tall, thin man pounded on the flames, rolling on the ground, but the black and red flames, like a malignant sore, burned even more fiercely.
In just two or three seconds, right before everyone's eyes, he was burned into a violently writhing fireball.
Then, with a "hiss," it turned into a small clump of charred ash, leaving not even bones behind.
When the wind blows, the ashes scatter.
The entire room fell silent.
The bald, burly man's sinister grin froze, and his pupils suddenly contracted!
Sold out instantly!
And in such a bizarre, domineering, and chilling way!
What kind of flame is that?!
"Monster...monster!" someone cried out in a trembling voice.
"Attack together! Otherwise, you'll all die!" The bald, burly man was fierce after all. After his initial shock came fury, and he slashed down with his eerie green flame blade!
The others were also aroused, unleashing a barrage of abilities: fireballs, ice spikes, wind blades, ground spikes, mental shocks...
They attacked Lin Yu from all directions!
Faced with this overwhelming attack, Lin Yu took a step forward.
The gambler flicked his wrist, the revolver sliding into his palm without even aiming.
boom!boom!boom!boom!boom!
The gunfire was continuous, with almost no pauses.
The silver bullets left the barrel, each shot incredibly accurate.
As if it had eyes, it pierced through the chaotic energy gaps and drilled into the brows, throats, and hearts of those trial participants who were casting spells or charging!
Not a single shot missed.
Blood burst from the forehead of the bald, burly man at the forefront, and the eerie green flame blade clattered to the ground.
When the gunfire stopped, only Lin Yu was still standing.
Lin Yu's trench coat swayed slightly in the wind, and a wisp of smoke curled from the muzzle of his gun.
Lin Yu's gaze swept over the corpses lying haphazardly on the ground, then he calmly reported into the communication terminal:
"Seventh Division, Lin Yu: The illegal gathering incident on the southeast section of the city wall has been dealt with. Twenty main perpetrators were killed, and the wall remains undamaged."
After saying that, Lin Yu put away his gun, turned around, and walked slowly away along the maintenance platform, his shadow stretching long in the sunlight.
Office of the Director of the Resource Scheduling Department
Su Yingxue watched the battle replay on the encrypted screen, her eyes completely calm. She lightly tapped the table with her fingertips:
"His fire-related abilities are highly developed and skillfully utilized. He possesses top-notch combat awareness and extremely high killing efficiency."
She commented in a cold tone: "It is a sharp enough knife, but a knife that is too sharp can easily hurt its owner or break itself."
She retrieved Lin Yu's file and entered the following in the evaluation section:
Combat capability: S. Execution efficiency: S.
Stability: To be observed.
Recommendation: Apply high-pressure tasks to test its resilience, loyalty, and manageable boundaries.
She then set a high-risk mission file that she had prepared in advance to be prioritized for distribution to the Seventh Division.

Somewhere in the inner city, a hidden room filled with gears and ancient books.
A gothic girl with silver-white twin ponytails hugged a pillow and excitedly swung her legs in front of a crystal ball.
"Wow! So cool!" Her heterochromatic eyes sparkled, and her dark red lips parted in a wide smile.
"That firework was so beautiful! So clean and efficient! That old woman Su Yingxue is definitely plotting something wicked again~"
She leaned closer to the crystal ball, seemingly trying to see every subtle expression on Lin Yu's face.
"You use your abilities so well~ but you're just the first man to clear my dungeon in the shortest time~"
"The story needs someone like you!" She chuckled dreamily, quickly scribbling in her notebook.
"So, Mr. 'Protagonist' is getting more and more cunning, and I still only have a vague idea of what he's got up to... It's really making me curious..."
"How should I write this story? Hehehe, I'm going to make you my most amazing toy!" the girl murmured to herself, her face growing increasingly flushed.
The pen in his hand kept scribbling on the notebook, gradually forming Lin Yu's portrait.
Then the girl gently pressed her lips to the notebook, leaving a lip print:
Next mission, I must find a chance to get closer and take a better look! Mr. "Protagonist"~
